Summary

The Eve mattress is one of the most stylish mattresses I have ever reviewed. Beyond the aesthetics, it’s just as great. Support is good, comfort is guaranteed and everything else you need for a good night’s sleep from staying cool to minimal disturbance when your partner moves is well taken care off.

I personally don’t like memory foam mattresses. They tend to get too hot at night, they develop a stale smell over time and they sink too much, causing my back to suffer.

Yet I’m enthusiastically recommending the Eve memory foam mattress.

Eve Mattress

The Eve mattress is unlike any memory foam mattress you have ever seen. The engineers crafted it in such a way that it drops all the bad aspects of memory foam, enhances the good ones and adds other great features you would normally find in other mattress types such as latex.

It has the contouring pressure relief that memory foam is known for, the temperature control and responsiveness (bounce) of latex and the perfect support-comfort balance of a hybrid mattress.

What are you buying?

1. 3 layers

Eve UK Single MattressThe entire mattress is 24cm thick. This thickness is distributed among three distinct layers, each with its own role in making the mattress as comfortable as possible.

The top layer is 3cm of contouring memory foam. When you lie on the mattress, the foam adapts to your body shape and weight. This allows even weight distribution which ensures no specific part of your body is under uncomfortable pressure.

The contouring effect is especially noticeable when you are lying on your side. You won’t feel your hips or shoulders digging into the mattress.

The second layer is 3cm of special cooling memory foam. This cooling layer is made from open cell foam. This is a unique structure that allows much more air circulation than traditional memory foam. As a result, it quickly carries away any heat produced by the body.

The cooling layer keeps the mattress cool at night. It also ensures that it will never develop a stale smell. The constant air flow keeps your bed feeling and smelling fresh.

Finally, an 18cm foundation layer rounds out the bottom of the mattress. This ultra-thick and dense layer is extremely important in keeping the mattress in shape. Without it, the mattress would quickly sag and lose form. It would also not provide enough support when you sleep.

2. Knitted cover

The three layers are covered in a plush fabric cover. Because of the materials used in making the cover (polyester and dorlastan), it feels both soft and stretchy. This gives it a snug fit around the mattress and enhances the comfort from the memory foam below.

The cover itself is highly breathable, ensuring you remain cool and cosy.

3. Medium firm feel

There are people who like their mattress really firm such that it feels like they are floating on it. There are a few others who like it very soft, allowing them to sink into it. But most people are somewhere in the middle: neither too firm nor too soft.

The Eve mattress has a medium firm feel, the sweet spot for many people. The extra-firm dense base is balanced by the plush top two layers. The result is a mattress that doesn’t feel like you are sinking into a swamp nor floating on a rock. It feels just right.

4. Made in the UK

The Eve mattress is made in the UK according to UK and European standards. The foam is CertiPUR certified, which means it has been tested for the absence of toxic materials.

How easy is it to maintain?

The Eve mattress doesn’t require much in the way of maintenance. As long as you have set it up properly – rigid base with stable support – it should be alright.

The company does not say anything about removing the cover. The mattress doesn’t seem to have a zipper so you probably cannot remove it. If you are worried about stains, get a mattress protector.

Pros

  • Very comfortable and supportive.
  • Stays cool through the night.
  • Feels bouncy.
  • Minimal motion transfer.

Cons

  • Poor edge support.
  • Cover not removable.

Anything else you should know?

The mattress will be delivered in a surprisingly small box. When you roll it out for the first time, it will look small too. But don’t worry; within a few hours it will have expanded to its full size. You can sleep on it immediately after unboxing and setup.

My view

With its vivid yellow sides, the Eve mattress is one of the most stylish mattresses I have ever reviewed. Beyond the aesthetics, it’s just as great. Support is good, comfort is guaranteed and everything else you need for a good night’s sleep from staying cool to minimal disturbance when your partner moves is well taken care off.
